This was my last day of work experience and turned out to be the best.
This was the most active day that i did with a PE lesson every period.
The first and second lessons were Tennis with classes that varied from year 7 to 9. These lessons went quite easily and quickly because of their end of term assessments. All they had to do was to play tennis as well as they could. I did give helpful tips to the students that may have needed a helping hand. For example i showed a student the correct way to do a backhand.
The 3rd lesson i had cricket. This was a good lesson in which i had to play diamond cricket. I had to bowl the ball to people who were batting and they had to run around in the circle of batters. At this time Mr May was recording how well the pupils were doing. this was a good lesson for me as is helped me with my teaching skills.
4Th lesson i had another tennis lesson in which the pupils had to play a game of tennis while getting assessed. this was an easy lesson as i didn't have much to do in terms of teaching because of the year 9 class i had.
The last lesson i had was cricket with a year 7 class. I took half of the class and the other teacher took the other half. This was the best lesson of the whole 10 days as i had to put everything i had learned into practice. I had to organise the game and keep it running which i did quite well. Attention went down towards the end of the lesson as there children got bored. By the time they started to get bored it was pretty much the end of the lesson and i had to take the equipment back to the shed.

Day 9
Today was my first day at Therfield as i couldnt stay at St Andrews for the full 10 days.
At least being at Therfield i could help out a PE lesson each period.
The first two lessons i had were Tennis. As it is the last lesson of the term for most students I couldnt help them that much with techquce on tennis swings ect. Sadly all i had to do was just watch over them to make sure that they were doing what they were supposed to do as they were being assessed by the teacher leading the lesson.
The 3rd period was quite plain but usful as i had to pump up all the footballs in the PE shed. This made me think about what a teacher would do in day to day work.
4th period i was with Mr May helping out in a year 7 cricket lesson. This was pairs cricket so the rules were pretty simple. I took all the girls and the other teacher took all the boys. This made it a little more easier for me as they are less trubble.
This lesson went quite well as i could tell the students what to do or how to improve somthing and they would listen and learn by example. This was a helpful lesson as it improved my confidence with older children.
5th period was again another non lesson as i had to help clean the PE shed. This was still an enjoyable exercise as i was given lots of things to do and at the end of the lesson hour the teachers and I had cleared away all the junk and made plenty more space in the shed

Day 8
Today was my last day at st Andrews school and as they were in their last day until half term there was lots of work to do.
Mainly i had to do little odd jobs around the classroom like tidy up things and take down old display boards. I also played a game with some of the reception children where they had to match up two items to show what they went with. For example a Knife would go with a fork.
In the afternoon i was told to help out some people from Esher college who were doing sports on the field with the year 3's. This was a lot of fun for the children as they could do a number of different sports but still being able to be controlled by the number of helpers there.
They had a 400m run, a 50 meter sprint, a throwing exercise and a standing long jump exercise. I helped out in most of these and learnt a thing or two about how the children were being instructed.
That was my last day at St Andrews because of their half term and tomorrow i will have to do two days of working at Therfield school so i can get my 10 days of work experience.

Day 7
Today went quite slowly. I was with year 2's for all of the morning. The first couple of lessons were quite boring but their 3rd lesson was doing outdoor games which i helped out with.
Using a football goal, two balls and some cones i was able to create a dribbling station for them to work at. Some children did really well here but others did struggle so i had to change it, making it a little easier.
The lesson i had in the afternoon was Netball and the thing they were trying to improve was their shooting. As i was quite good at basketball i could easily relate to Netball shooting, showing the correct way to hold and throw the ball towards the hoop. The year 4 class got used to this method quite quickly and i was able to see an improvement.
Tomorrow is my last day at St Andrews school and i want to try my best to show what i have achieved over the last week and a half.

Day 6
Today was my return back to the school after the weekend and meant that i would have only 3 days left until the end of my work experience at St Andrews school.
In the morning i was with year 6. Sadly they were doing reading most of the day so i was sent downstairs to help out with a year 2 class which were practicing their Assembly.
After lunch i had two Rounders lessons on the field which both went quite quickly even though it was boiling hot. These two lessons mainly focused on the throwing and catching motions of the sport. I was quite useful here as i helped out the children by showing them how they could improve their throw or catch.
The last class i had to teach was the year 6 class i had in the morning and we got straight into a game which they liked. As you could easily tell all the pupils were on different skill levels and i had to coordinate my lesson to help them too.

Day 5
Today i had to help out year 4 with their lessons. First few lessons was art and R.e
This was quite boring as i dont have much interest for these subjects. These lessons went quite quickly and by the time it was the end of lunch I was quite ready for some P.E.
The first P.E lesson i had was Dance with year 2's. This was a big change for me as i dont have much experiance in Dance and dont enjoy it as much as other sports. I told the teacher this before the lessons started and she said it was quite alright for you to sit out and help where you could. The lesson was based on moving in different ways to different types of music. So if the music was hard and slow the children would stomp their feet and move quite slowly. This lesson went quite well and after the hour it was time for the last lesson of the day.
As the dance lesson had finished quite late i had to find the class out on the field. This was quite easy seeing that it is a very small field. As i was a little late to the lesson the teacher was quite supprised to see me there and told me that there wasnt much to help with as they were already into a full game of rounders. I was told to sit out and observe the lesson and how it was instructed.
Because of the inset days next week i only have three days left of work experiance.

Day 4
Today didn't go as it was planned to in the time table.
In the morning i had to help out year 2's. One class was practicing their Assembly for that same afternoon. I also had to help out the other year 2 class with their drawing of mini beasts.
While they were doing this I had to help 3 children at a time play snakes and ladders so they could improve their number skills.
Sadly there wasn't any PE this afternoon so i couldn't observe or help out in a lesson.

Day 3
This was the 3rd day of my work experiance at St Andrews school. Today I was helping out the youngest year in the school whos ages ranged from 4 to 5 years old.
In the morning all I had to do was to pump up rubber balls for the activities in the afternoon which was very easy and simple. While i was doing this I could get a good idea on what level the children were on. As they were the youngest year in the school every command was carfully explained so that the children could get it right.
In the Afternoon we took half the reception class out onto the field and did basic throwing, catching, rolling and kicking skills. This went supprisingly well as i thought that it would be pure chaos. I partly belived that because i was there they behaved much better than they would if i wasnt there, mabye because i was a strange person they hadnt seen before.
After the lesson hour the halves switched round and I helped out the other class. This lesson was much like the other, in which things we were practicing.
Today was quite a good day because i had to get used to the fact that these children didnt have basic skills in sport and were just learning them for the first time.

Day 2
This was much the same as the first day, as it will be during the two weeks. In the morning there wasnt any PE to instruct or help out at. As the afternoon came around i knew that i would be taking part in some Netball lessons.
These two lessons worked out quite well. The first lesson was basic netball with the topic being defending with year 4's. I helped out in this lesson by giving clear intructions on how to do the activites which included a warm up with a defending drill and ending with a game.
The second lesson was much the same with younger year 3's. This was the same netball lesson with the same objectives. I helped out in this lesson by giving instructions to students and showing them how to improve their defending. The last activity was a game, same as last lesson, which went quite smoothly.
Today i felt that I participated much more in the school day as a PE assistant but also as a Teaching assistant giving general help around the classroom.

Day 1
This was the first day of my work experience in St Andrews school and i think it went quite well. Today's class was a year 6 class so they would have been the most non-cooperative. As PE isn't a huge part of the school's curriculum i didn't have many opportunities to teach PE. The only lesson i got to do PE in today was last period. In this period it was a standard Football lesson.
I had to instruct a basic warm-up with standard stretches and two laps around the school field, which wasn't very big.
We then got into a Football game and straight away i could tell which people in the class were football players and others who were not very experienced in football.
As the match went on I told the players to get the girls involved in the game as sometimes they are set apart from the experienced boys. As i said this one of the boys passed the ball to one of the girls and it did lead up to a goal for their team. Most of the girls were very involved and active where as in some secondary schools girls wouldn't be so enthusiastic in activities like this.
